I have a bay that I plan to populate with 14tb drives as resources allow. I have been using 2 HBA's for my current usage, and running Plex server from the machine. It transcodes fine. Updated about 1 year ago. Quicksync is on most cpu's and nvenc is on nvidia grafic cards. Plex has it atm in Plex Pass, and are soon to go public with it. Plex site tells there is no transcoding acceleration support for FreeBSD, so that may be not easy. I'll do some research on this. I know it hasn't been supported by FreeBSD in the past, but perhaps we can make it work with some ports love. Brandon, Kris had some progress on this side, and he believes we may have all the things required, and the only problem is that the code is blocked on the Plex side. I would like to keep the hardware acceleration of the nVidia for emby. What do I gain with ZFS? How would I configure the card so that I am able to take full advantage of my drives? I was considering raid 10 but recently ZFS. Its a drive pool, and allows you to add disks to increase the overall capacity without re-configuring a raid array. If I run nvidia-smi in those first 20 seconds, I can see the job hit the card and start handling the transcode, and when ffmpeg crashes, the job stops. While I doubt the Emby server log would be too useful in this situation, best to check that as well to see if anything is anomalous right before and after the transcode. I suppose you could try manually running the same ffmpeg line at an increased loglevel to see what ffmpeg thinks is happening and checking the exit code, but other than that and log checking, I'm not sure what else to look at offhand. I don't know how live TV is handled or if it's buffered on disc somewhere, so I'm at a loss to explain why that works no tuner here Like perhaps a folder of videos stored on the main OS drive?
